PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

As part of the Focus Programme, SGIFF seeks to contextualise the films in this year’s Festival lineup. This panel discussion will explore film and visual storytelling in Southeast Asia: What kinds of stories do we tell? Are there unique themes and metaphors that underpin those stories? How does film form influence the art of storytelling? And what is in store for those stories? To initiate these discussions, we have assembled a panel of filmmakers whose films are screening in the Asian Feature Competition and Focus sections of the Festival. Spanning styles and genres, with some experimenting with film narrative, this panel discussion will offer insights into their work and the breadth of storytelling. Come and be a part of this conversation.
