Following his mother’s death, Pierre Morhange, a successful conductor, returns to his childhood home. A visit from an old friend sparks memories of their teacher, Clément Mathieu, who changed the course of their lives.
Fifty years earlier, as children, Pierre and his friend are sent to an institution for troubled boys and exposed to its strict routine. But the arrival of a new teacher, Clément, who struggles against the oppressive school authorities, inspires the boys, leading Pierre to discover his exceptional musical talent. But the world outside wasn’t that kind with their creativity…

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Christophe Barratier trained in classical music and worked in production before directing his debut The Chorus. The film was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song categories at the 2005 Academy Awards. He later directed War of Buttons (2011) and Team Spirit (2016).
