Empire Records first hit cinemas in 1995 and has aged beautifully since. It has earned for itself the status of a cult hit that launched multiple careers, including that of Renee Zellweger and Liv Tyler. As with Pump Up the Volume (1990), director Allan Moyle once again explored the power of music and the community that comes together because of it.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Allan Moyle started out as a writer and actor before making his directorial debut in 1977 with The Rubber Gun. He often works around the theme of music and rose to a surprising success with Pump Up the Volume (1990) starring 90s heartthrob Christian Slater, followed by Empire Records (1995).
